Darius Merriweather is the Corporate Communications and External Affairs Manager at American Water, based in Camden New Jersey, where he helps oversee the development of comprehensive and creative arrays of external and digital communication activities related to enhancing the image and brand of American Water.

Previously, he was a Social Media Community Management Specialist at AmeriHealth. In this role, he was responsible for monitoring and maintaining the AmeriHealth social media channels while focusing on developing associate-based content and managing employee social media advocacy. He also spent four years at Comcast NBCUniversal in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he was the Communications Coordinator for Military and Veteran Affairs and one year at ESPN where he served as a Digital Content Associate for the ESPN app, website and social media platforms in Bristol, Connecticut.

Darius is also active in the tri-state area as a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. where he serves the Philadelphia metropolitan area with community service, mentorship and providing scholarships for high school and college students. He is also a Prince Hall Mason, focusing on citizenship, education, and the improvement of the condition of blacks.

Darius holds a bachelor’s degree in Digital Media, where he mastered content production and digital media marketing. He is a native of South Jersey, where he graduated from Eastern Regional High School in Voorhees. A decorated three-sport athlete, he earned a full Division 1 scholarship to play football for the Southern Illinois Salukis before transferring to the Division 2 University of Findlay, where he earned his degree in 2017.
